PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL, ETR:2PP) shares powered nearly 11% higher in early trading on Tuesday after the company announced an agreement with OpenAI that will allow ChatGPT users to buy products using PayPal's payment platform.
Beginning next year, PayPal users can purchase items through the AI platform, and its merchants can sell on ChatGPT, with their inventory listed there.
OpenAI has announced previously e-commerce relationships with Shopify, Etsy, and Walmart.
ChatGPT has more than 800 million weekly users.
PayPal also reported adjusted earnings for its third quarter 2025 that increased 12% year over year to $1.34 per share, while its revenue for period rose 7% to $8.42 billion.
Analysts, on average, expected earnings of $1.20 per share on revenue of $8.236 billion.
Looking ahead, PayPal said it now expects full-year adjusted earnings per share of between $5.35 and $5.39, up from $5.15 to $5.30 previously, and better than the Wall Street forecast of $5.24.
