Markets in a Minute: ASX200 down, but Far East Gold and terrain Minerals climb

The ASX 200 finished lower on Tuesday, slipping 0.48% as consumer discretionary and financials weighed on the market, while healthcare endured a particularly rough session, shedding more than 7%.

Among movers, Far East Gold climbed after flagging a new gold discovery at its Eidenberg project in Indonesia. Terrain Minerals surged on news of a 12-kilometre rare earths basin at its Lort River project near Esperance, with drilling returning grades of up to 0.98% total rare earth oxides.

In contrast, heavyweight CSL tumbled after downgrading earnings guidance through to 2028, a move linked to softer US demand for influenza vaccines. Lynetown Resources also fell on its quarterly update: despite higher production, lower sales and rising costs pushed operating cash flow into the red for the period.

That’s Markets in a Minute for this Tuesday—see you tomorrow.
