Century Lithium relocates demonstration plant to Tonopah

Century Lithium Corp. (TSX-V:LCE, OTCQX:CYDVF) said it has begun moving its lithium extraction demonstration plant to the company’s facility at the Tonopah Airport in Nevada.

The relocation of the plant will help the company to consolidate support for the development of Angel Island, CEO Bill Willoughby told shareholders.

Century Lithium’s Angel Island project is one of the largest known lithium claystone deposits in North America. The project is being developed to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate for use in electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

The company’s process begins with the treatment of Angel Island claystone using hydrochloric acid under optimized conditions, followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide. Both are sustainably produced on-site via electrolysis of salt water. The resulting lithium chloride solution is then processed through DLE and refined into high-purity, battery-grade lithium carbonate for electric vehicle and energy storage applications.

Century said the new Tonopah site will provide additional space for research and development into battery materials, including lithium metal and lithium iron phosphate, and accommodate a larger assay and metallurgical laboratory.

The 20-acre Tonopah Airport facility already serves as the field office for Century’s Angel Island project and previously supported the preparation and handling of bulk sample materials for the company’s three-year pilot plant program in Amargosa Valley. It will now act as a hub for R&D, project support, and administration.
