Legal & General Group PLC (LSE:LGEN) has completed a £4.6 billion buy-in with the trustees of Ford’s pension schemes, which it said was the largest UK pension risk transfer announced in 2025.
It is also the FTSE 100 life insurer's second-largest ever by premium size and brings L&G’s global PRT volumes this year to £11 billion.
The transaction secures benefits for more than 35,000 members and underscores a decade-long partnership between L&G and the Ford schemes.
L&G chief executive António Simões said the transaction "puts us firmly on track" to achieve pension risk transfer growth targets.
The sector is well positioned for continued growth, the company added, with the size of its own pipeline pointing to a wider market that is close to £50 billion in 2026, mirroring transfer levels seen in recent years.
Jonathan Wood, chair of the trustees of the pension funds, said the transaction had been planned and worked towards "for many years", as a key "de-risking milestone".
