Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST) has secured a £460,000 contract to design and install a modular vertical farming system at Nottingham Trent University’s new Smart Agricultural Research Centre, in a deal that underscores the company’s growing role in sustainable agriculture.
The AIM-listed firm said the project, due to be installed in early 2026, also includes a three-year maintenance agreement worth £10,800 a year.
The system will give the university a cutting-edge research platform for controlled environment agriculture, where crops are grown indoors under precisely managed conditions, and will support both academic and commercial studies.
LSTH’s AgTech division will lead the project, integrating its nurturGROW lighting systems, sensorGROW environmental sensors and Tomtech control technologies into a single connected setup.
The manufacturing of key components will be handled by UK Circuits and Electronics Solutions, the company’s contract electronics division, demonstrating how its business units are working together to develop scalable agricultural technology.
Chief executive Simon Deacon said: “We are delighted with this latest contract award, which was part of a competitive tender.
"We have developed a strong ecosystem within the group, and the nature and size of this contract highlight the benefits of being able to deliver scale through our complementary divisions.”
The agreement forms part of LSTH's £45 million AgTech pipeline, which the company said continues to show growing momentum.
Deacon added that increasing levels of pipeline conversion and revenue visibility were strengthening the board’s confidence in its growth prospects.
