Adherium Ltd CEO Dawn Bitz talked with Proactive about the company’s mission to improve outcomes in asthma and COPD through its Hailie® Smartinhaler® technology. Bitz detailed how Adherium is addressing one of respiratory health’s biggest challenges—medication adherence—by combining smart sensor technology with a data-driven platform.
“Our technology reminds them when to use their medications, reminds them if they're using their medications correctly and then feeds that information back both to themselves as well as their providers,” Bitz explained.
The system includes both a sensor-fitted inhaler jacket and a connected app, offering real-time insights for patients and their healthcare providers—even between clinical visits. Bitz revealed that Adherium has data on 850 patients so far, the largest adherence study of its kind. The findings showed improved adherence thresholds, which are tied to lower hospitalisation rates and reduced healthcare costs.
