T-Mobile tops revenue and earnings estimates for Q3

T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS, ETR:TM5) has reported its “best Q3 in over a decade,” as it posted strong customer additions and beat profit and revenue expectations.

The company posted total revenue of $21.96 billion, slightly above analyst estimates of $21.92 billion.

Earnings rose to $2.7 billion or $2.41 per share, narrowly topping the consensus estimate of $2.39.

Customer growth remained strong across categories, T-Mobile highlighted.

The company added 2.3 million total postpaid customers, an increase of 772,000 from the same quarter last year.

Postpaid phone net additions totaled 1 million, up 142,000 year-over-year, while postpaid phone churn rose slightly to 0.89%. Prepaid net customer additions were 43,000, with churn nearly flat at 2.77%.

T-Mobile also continued expanding its broadband segment, reporting 560,000 total broadband net additions, up 142,000 from a year ago. This included 506,000 5G broadband additions and 54,000 fiber additions, bringing total 5G broadband customers to 8 million.

Overall, total net customer additions reached 2.4 million, up 791,000 year-over-year, driving total customer connections to a record 139.9 million.

The company attributed its strong performance to what it called a “widening differentiation” in its network, value, and customer experience offering.
