AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF) announced that its chief technology officer, Dr Mike Rendall, has been appointed inaugural chair of the UK Ammonia Alliance (UKAA), a new industry body formed to advance the nation’s low-carbon ammonia sector.
Founding members include Air Products, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Statkraft and several other energy and hydrogen firms.
The alliance aims to promote ammonia’s role in decarbonising heavy industry, agriculture and energy systems, and will host its first public event in Parliament in November to launch a policy paper on the UK’s ammonia opportunity.
“We are delighted that eleven leading businesses have taken the positive step to establish the UK Ammonia Alliance, and AFC Energy is proud that Mike is taking on the important role as chair of the group," said chief executive John Wilson.
"The establishment of the alliance can play a vital role in securing policy changes to help accelerate the growth of this market, and provide greater energy resilience and security to the country.”
