Conroy Gold discovers new target in Ireland

Four soil samples indicated above 20ppb gold and a further five above 10ppb gold.

Gold explorer Conroy Gold and Natural Resources (LON:CGNR) has discovered a new target in Ireland.

Near Rockcorry, the 700m by 300m gold-in-soil anomaly lies 14km from Clontibret, where the company hopes to develop its first gold mine in the area.

Four soil samples indicated above 20ppb gold and a further five above 10ppb gold.

The company said a gold trend runs from County Armagh in Northern Ireland across Counties Monaghan and Cavan in the Republic of Ireland.

Richard Conroy, chairman, said: “This discovery confirms the gold potential of the company’s licences in the area lying between the existing gold targets to the Northwest at Clay Lake, Clontibret, where a mine is being developed, and Glenish, as well as those to the South.”

Irish gold mining has made headlines recently after last week’s announcement that the Northern Irish government had issued Galantas Gold (LON:GAL) with planning permission for an underground mine near Omagh.
