JB Hunt Transport Services Inc (NASDAQ: JBHT) shares climbed 18% to $164.18 in early trading on Thursday after the transportation company's third quarter 2025 earnings exceeded expectations on operational efficiency improvements.
JB Hunt’s earnings per share of $1.76 for the quarter surpassed the FactSet analyst consensus estimate of $1.46.
Operational efficiency improvements, driven by enhanced productivity in its Dedicated Contract Services segment, led to an 8% growth in the company’s operating income.
The company’s revenue for the period, meanwhile, was flat at $3.05 billion, which was in line with the Wall Street forecast.
JB Hunt also bought back about $230 million worth of the company’s stock during the quarter.
