Iodine producer Iofina (LON:IOF) expects to exceed the upper end of production guidance in the first half of 2015.
The company, which makes iodine from brine taken from onshore oil and gas production, had previously indicated it would produce 220-260 tonnes of crystalline iodine from its IOsorb plants in the first half of this year, but it is on course to top that, with production of more than 280 tonnes.
"We are pleased that our focused operations in our core production area have resulted in increased efficiencies and production volumes exceeding our previous target,” said Dr Tom Becker, president and chief executive officer of Iofina.
“Production to date underpins our financial expectations for the current financial year. With increased production and inventory levels, we are now positioned to pursue additional external sales and off-take agreements of our produced iodine." he added.
