Generative AI products adoption by consumers reaching inflection point: analysts

Wedbush analysts believe consumer sentiment towards generative artificial intelligence (genAI) has been positive and has mostly improved since their last survey.

Their findings are based on Wedbush’s third quarter 2025 Consumer Internet Survey of more than 1,000 US consumers to measure sentiment and adoption of autonomous vehicles (AV) and consumer-facing genAI applications.

“We think adoption of consumer-facing genAI products is approaching an inflection point as chatbots transition to generative AI agents with a variety of everyday use cases, and as operators integrate AI capabilities across hardware products,” the analysts wrote in a note to clients on Wednesday.

Their survey results indicate “healthy levels” of AV expansion and consumer adoption, as nearly a third of respondents have taken a ridesharing trip in an AV and about two thirds plan to increase their use of AVs for ridesharing over the next three months.

The analysts also noted that around 75% of consumers in their survey engage with an AI product or tool on a weekly or daily basis, better than their Q2 survey results.

In addition, the Wedbush equity research team stated that both AI Overviews and AI Mode in Google Search were perceived more positively than negatively by a wide margin, with about half of the consumers surveyed indicating that both AI offerings have improved their experience using Search.
