Altech Batteries raises A$6M to accelerate CERENERGY®, AMPower and Silumina Anodes projects

Altech Batteries Ltd (ASX:ATC, OTC:ALTHF) has secured binding commitments to raise A$6 million via the issue of 133,333,334 new shares at A$0.045 per share, with one free attaching listed option for every two shares (exercise price A$0.065; expiry October 31, 2028). The securities will be issued under Listing Rule 7.1, with shares expected to be allotted on October 20, 2025.

The money raised will support value-accretive activities across the CERENERGY®, AMPower and Silumina Anodes™ projects, providing balance sheet flexibility for near-term milestones.

“We are encouraged by the strong market interest in our current initiatives. This capital raise comes at an exciting time for Altech as it establishes its selling, distribution and installation infrastructure for AMPower-produced Altech-branded sodium nickel chloride (SNC) batteries and advances the commercialisation of its 120MWh CERENERGY® battery project,” ATC managing director Iggy Tan said.

“With the operation of the Silumina Anodes™ pilot plant completed and NDAs signed with major US and European car manufacturers, Altech is readying itself to provide commercial samples of the product. A portion of the funds will also be allocated to a preliminary study for a larger 4 GWh battery facility, marking the next significant step towards commercialisation.”

Planned use of funds / milestones

The company will use the $6 million for the following:

  • UPS battery trials and sales: initial sales of advanced uninterruptible power supply (UPS) batteries targeting critical infrastructure customers in Europe, Australia and the United States.
  • Project finance: progress funding arrangements for the 120 megawatt-hour (MWh) CERENERGY® production facility in Germany to support commercial rollout.
  • Pilot and scale-up: complete the larger 90 kilowatt-hour (kWh) CERENERGY® battery prototype and undertake preliminary assessment of a 4 gigawatt-hour (GWh) giga-factory for large-scale production.

Altech posts 88.5% capacity retention over 500 cycles for Silumina Anodes technology

The raise comes after ATC reported 88.5% capacity retention after 500 charge–discharge cycles using a 5% addition of its spherical alumina-coated silicon material in its Silumina Anodes™ technology.

Repeated testing confirmed more than 88% retention, validating the reproducibility and stability of the process and marking Altech’s strongest cycling performance to date for its advanced anode material.

Lithium-ion batteries have traditionally relied on graphite anodes, which are reliable and low-cost but constrained by limited energy density. Silicon can store nearly 10 times more lithium, yet its tendency to swell and crack during cycling has impeded broad commercial adoption.

Altech’s process is designed to stabilise silicon’s expansion and preserve performance over hundreds of cycles. The company says the advance could enable lighter, longer-range electric-vehicle batteries and higher-efficiency energy-storage systems.
