Thor Explorations Ltd (TSX-V:THX, AIM:THX, OTC:THXPF) shares climbed in Monday morning's trade, after announcing final drilling results from its maiden campaign at the Guitry gold project, in Côte d’Ivoire, where it sees several significant gold intersections.
The explorer also confirmed mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth.
The 4,604-metre reverse circulation programme aimed to improve understanding of geological controls on mineralisation across the Krakouadiokro and Gbaloukro prospects.
"We are pleased to report continued positive drilling results from Cote d'Ivoire, completing a successful maiden drilling campaign in country," said chief executive Segun Lawson.
"When acquired, the Guitry project featured several gold-in-soil geochemical anomalies that previous explorers had only partially tested with shallow drilling."
"This drilling campaign has intersected and confirmed previously untested deeper bedrock mineralisation,
Latest assays include 6 metres at 9.63 grammes per tonne gold from 89 metres in drillhole GURC25-246, 7 metres at 1.50 g/t from 72 metres, and 14 metres at 1.30 g/t from 57 metres.
Previous results had reported grades as high as 12.65 g/t gold at depth in fresh bedrock.
The company said these results suggest a steeply dipping, parallel lode array hosting multiple zones of mineralisation.
Lawson added that further step-out drilling will resume once the rainy season ends. The plan is to carry out both infill and step-out drilling to grow the potential resource inventory and conduct a permit-wide auger programme to test untested soil anomalies.
"Cote d'Ivoire is a leading West African gold mining and exploration region, hosting over 30% of the area's greenstone belts and emerging as a site for world-class gold discoveries," he said.
"We are excited to be returning to the field shortly, when we will also be carrying out our maiden drilling campaign on our Marahui Permit."
In London, Thor shares climbed 4% to change hands at 73.95p.
