Strava IPO is likely 'at some point'

Fitness app company Strava is planning an initial public offering, but not in the immediate future, according to a Financial Times report.

The San Francisco company's CEO Michael Martin said a public listing was likely "at some point".

He said this would provide access to funding "in case we wanted to do more and bigger acquisitions".

According to a Reuters report last month, banks including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley had been invited to pitch for roles on a potential IPO in 2026.

At the time, the company stressed that it was not sure how much it would raise and at what valuation.

In May, Strava's valuation was estimated at US$2.2 billion, including debt, per a Wall Street Journal report, following acquisitions of training apps Runna and The Breakaway.

Strava last raised funds in 2020, at a valuation of US$1.5 billion.

The company, which has an average of 50 million monthly active users, is backed by Sequoia Capital, TCV, and Jackson Square Ventures.
