Far East Gold Ltd CEO Shane Menere talked with Proactive about the company’s commencement of diamond drilling at the high-grade Sua prospect, part of the Idenburg Contract of Work in Papua Province, Indonesia.
The program includes 10 diamond drill holes totalling 1,820 metres and targets an area previously drilled in 2005–2006, where grades of up to 52g/t gold were reported. Menere explained that the team is using updated methods, including ground proofing, geophysics, and airborne magnetic surveys to refine their understanding of the project.
“We’re well and truly on track,” Menere said, noting that logistical infrastructure is now in place, including road access, crushing and splitting equipment, and trained teams on-site. These enhancements aim to streamline operations and fast-track assay delivery.
Drill cores will be sent to labs in Jakarta, with assays expected approximately two to two-and-a-half weeks after each hole is completed. The company expects steady news flow as the program progresses, with each hole averaging around 200 metres.
The Sua program runs in parallel with the North Bermol drilling and upcoming Kwaplu prospect campaign, signalling an active period ahead for Far East Gold.
