Discord probes data breach affecting thousands of users

Discord has confirmed that official ID photos and personal details from about 70,000 users may have been exposed in a cyber-attack on a third-party support provider.

The San Francisco-based messaging platform, which has more than 200 million users worldwide, said its own systems were not compromised.

Hackers targeted a company that helped verify users’ ages, potentially leaking ID images, partial credit card details and conversations with Discord’s customer support team.

The firm stressed that no full credit card numbers, passwords or private messages between users were accessed. All affected individuals have been notified, and Discord said it has cut off the vendor’s access while working with law enforcement.
