The UK has signed a pair of defence deals worth around £600 million to India's armed forces, part of Keir Starmer's trade mission to the subcontinent.
One £250 million deal is to supply lightweight missiles to the Indian Army.
Missiles will be built in Belfast, Northern Ireland, by French group Thales in collaboration with India's Bharat Dynamics.
"The deal paves the way for a broader complex weapons partnership between the UK and India, currently under negotiation between the two governments," the UK government said in a statement.
Deeper UK-India collaboration on electric-powered engines for naval ships was also agreed, with the deal worth an initial £250 million.
Defence Secretary, John Healey MP, said: "The defence deals announced today show how our growing strategic partnership with India will boost UK business and jobs.
"I am hopeful that this will pave the way for a deeper relationship between our two defence industries, particularly in the development of electric engines for naval ships and in air defence."
