Reconnaissance Energy Africa provides positive drilling update on Kavango West 1X exploration well

Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd (TSX-V:RECO, OTCQX:RECAF) announced that drilling at the Kavango West 1X exploration well in Namibia remains on the original expected schedule, with the company anticipating being at total depth in the second half of November.

The Canadian oil and gas company said the well is expected to penetrate about 1,500 metres (m) of potential reservoir before reaching total depth at around 3,800m.

Once at total depth, an extensive logging program will begin with results expected to be made public around year-end, according to the company.

“Currently, the well is drilling ahead into the Otavi carbonate reservoir, which is the primary target in the Damara Fold Belt,” Reconnaissance Energy Africa CEO Brian Reinsborough said in a statement.

“We anticipate drilling an extensive section of the potential reservoir, which will be followed by a full evaluation of the Otavi section.”

Reinsborough noted that the Kavango West 1X well is testing a large structural closure in the Otavi section measuring almost 20 kilometres long by 3 kilometres wide.

Furthermore, Reconnaissance Energy Africa stated that drilling details from this point until reaching total depth will be under “tight hole” status, meaning the company will not provide indications of well results prior to final logging of the Otavi reservoir section.

It added that any drilling updates provided between now and the completion of logging of the Otavi reservoir zone will only include an updated drilling depth.
