Krakatoa Resources CEO Mark Major talked with Proactive about the latest developments at the Zopkhito Gold and Antimony Project in Georgia, Eastern Europe.
Underground coring is beginning this week, a major milestone that moves the company closer to delivering a maiden resource estimate. Major confirmed that two surface rigs are currently operating, and the first batch of samples has already been sent to a laboratory in Turkey. He also noted that drone work will commence in the coming weeks, supporting ongoing exploration efforts.
“The Soviet data is there. It’s real. We’ve been underground and seen the veins in the faces of the adits,” Major said, explaining the geological context behind the company's confidence. He also referenced historical channel sampling completed in 2014, which backed up the presence of gold and antimony in the system.
The company is now testing whether mineralisation continues between known adits using its current surface drilling campaign. This work targets high-priority zones previously identified during Soviet-era exploration.
Proactive looks forward to further updates from Major as the company continues its activities on the ground, with another site visit planned in the coming weeks.
