The S&P/ASX 200 slipped 14.1 points, or 0.16%, to 8,973.3 after touching a fresh 20-day high earlier in the session. The weakest performers in the benchmark were Mesoblast Limited and HMC Capital Limited, down 5.62% and 4.91% respectively. Despite today’s dip, the index has risen 2.11% over the past five sessions and sits just 0.9% below its 52-week peak.
The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index also edged lower, easing 1.8 points, or 0.05%, to 3,831.4. Over the past five days, the small-cap gauge has gained 3.32%, reflecting solid momentum among emerging companies.
