Light Science Technologies landed a very significant accreditation - ICYMI

Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST) CEO Simon Deacon talked with Proactive about the company’s progress in its Passive Fire Protection (PFP) and AgTech divisions, highlighting the growth opportunities ahead.

Deacon explained the importance of recently receiving the BS 8670 accreditation from Construction Online, which he described as “very significant” for the business. He noted that Construction Online was originally a government department and has been supporting thousands of businesses across Europe for more than 20 years in compliance and supply chain management.

According to Deacon, the new accreditation is designed to “streamline the supply pre-qualification process and will really help unblock the delays across the construction industry and supply chain.”

Simon Deacon joined the Proactive studio to tell us more about it.

Proactive: Hello, you're watching Proactive. I'm joined by Light Science Technologies CEO Simon Deacon. Simon, good to speak with you today. Why was this accreditation created and how significant is receiving it?

Simon Deacon: Good morning Stephen, it is very significant. And it's really very important. Construction Online recently launched its BS 8670 accreditation. Originally, Construction Online was a government department.

For over 20 years, it has been supporting thousands of businesses across the public and private sector. They are European leaders in risk management, compliance, supply chain management and sourcing for the construction industry. This accreditation is designed to streamline the supply pre-qualification process and will really help unblock delays across the construction industry and supply chain.

Proactive: What impact do you expect this to have on Passive Fire Protection (PFP)?

Simon Deacon: It will have a big effect on the PFP division. We're already accredited with the gold standard, and this additional certification further validates our expertise across safety, leadership, risk management, fire and life protection. It provides confidence to both the building safety regulator and our customers.

Proactive: Can you tell us more about your active PFP projects, quoted pipeline, and the broader opportunity you see?

Simon Deacon: Our quoted pipeline has grown to around £28 million. The pipeline is growing, but we’re also converting it. In recent weeks, we announced approximately £0.5 million worth of orders.

These projects stretch across the country, including Southampton, Birmingham and Manchester. They cover a wide range of buildings, from schools to hotels and social housing. You can see we are nationwide and gaining traction in converting that pipeline.

Proactive: What's the outlook for PFP and what does this mean for the group?

Simon Deacon: For the group, we’ve seen a backlog from the building safety regulator. It’s important to get these accreditations to speed up the process for key stakeholders and the regulator.

We see this impact really coming through in 2026, as the Passive Fire Protection and AgTech divisions within our group start leveling up revenue. I see those as the two strongest divisions creating revenue and net profit in 2026.

We’re really looking forward to having a strong 2026 as this backlog is released and work converts into revenue.

Proactive: Congratulations again on that accreditation. Thank you very much for speaking with us.
