Hercules forecasts record year as government infrastructure push drives demand

Hercules PLC (LSE:HERC), the labour supply group focused on UK infrastructure and construction, said it expects to post record results for the year to the end of September, helped by rising investment in major national projects.

The company said revenue for the year will top £118 million, about 16% higher than last year’s £101.9 million, and ahead of market expectations of £112.1 million.

Profit before tax and earnings are also expected to be in line with forecasts.

Brusk Korkmaz, chief executive, said: “Hercules will again deliver record results, with more to look forward to in 2026 and beyond.

"With strong support from the UK Government, the country’s infrastructure sector is buoyant, with £750 billion committed across numerous sectors, where Hercules has a strong and growing presence.”

The business has been expanding its reach through acquisitions, most notably Advantage NRG, its largest deal to date, which brought Hercules into the power and energy sector.

Advantage NRG is the UK’s biggest supplier of overhead linesmen, the skilled workers who build and maintain electricity transmission lines.

Hercules has also bought Quality Transport Training to expand its Hercules Academy in Nuneaton, which provides training for construction workers.

The company said these acquisitions have been successfully integrated and would help it capitalise on rising demand across the UK.

Hercules is positioning itself to benefit from a wave of government-backed infrastructure spending.

Projects include the £30 billion Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk, upgrades to the national electricity grid worth £58 billion, more than £100 billion of investment in water utilities over the next five years, and £44 billion allocated for rail improvements during the current funding cycle.

The company said it is already supplying workers to Sizewell C and has opened a new office near the site. It has also won £6.5 million of contracts in the water sector, covering regions from Anglian to Yorkshire Water.

Its rail division, launched last year, is expanding and continues to supply labour to HS2’s northern section.

Hercules has also been growing its training capacity. Since its launch in 2024, the Hercules Academy has trained more than 1,850 people, with plans to add more courses in 2026 to help tackle the skills shortage.

Full-year results are due in mid-January.
