The S&P/ASX 200 edged lower today, slipping 4 points to 8,844.80. Lithium names were the weakest links, with Liontown Resources down 10.4% and Pilbara Minerals off 6.6%. Despite the dip, the benchmark remains up 0.9% over the past five sessions and sits just 2.3% shy of its 52-week high.

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries outperformed, climbing 27.3 points, or 0.7%, to 3,740.40. The index has gained 2.2% across the week, underscoring renewed momentum among small-cap stocks even as the broader market held flat.
