Yandal confirms milestone drill results

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) earlier this week reported encouraging RC drilling results from the Arrakis Prospect at its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia. Managing Director Chris Oorschot joined Proactive to explain.

Highlights

  • Yandal Resources reported first RC drill results from the Arrakis Prospect at the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project.
  • Results included 54m at 1.2 g/t gold, with 24m at 2.1 g/t.
  • Managing Director Chris Oorschot said the results confirmed mineralisation continuity from weathered zones into fresh rock.
  • Grades and widths in fresh rock were significantly higher than in earlier shallow drilling.
  • The company sees strong potential along the 2.2 km strike defined by aircore drilling.
  • A second heritage survey is scheduled for later this month to clear new drill lines.
  • Yandal plans to mobilise a diamond rig in October and re-enter some RC holes.
  • Investors can expect more drill results into late 2025.

Strong Early Results

Yandal said the program targeted areas beneath a string of aircore intercepts that defined a 2.20 kilometre trend within the Caladan fold structure. Yandal told investors that the first results returned 54.00 metres at 1.20 grams per tonne gold, including a higher-grade section of 24.00 metres at 2.10 grams per tonne.

Managing Director Chris Oorschot said the results marked a “significant milestone for the project.” He explained that the Yandal Greenstone Belt often shows depletion in shallow drilling due to remobilisation of gold within the regolith profile. As a result, early fresh rock testing is considered critical.

Continuity of Mineralisation Boosts Confidence

The company highlighted that the new RC drilling confirmed continuity of mineralisation from weathered zones into fresh rock. It also noted that the grades and widths observed were higher than those seen in previous shallow drilling.

Oorschot said the outcome supports the potential for similar mineralisation across the full 2.20 kilometre strike length. He added that this continuity underpins Yandal’s confidence in the target.

Next Steps

Looking ahead, Yandal said a second heritage survey is scheduled for the end of this month, clearing drill lines across the defined trend. The company confirmed it will mobilise a diamond rig in October to follow up on the RC drilling. Some RC holes completed earlier this month will also be re-entered.

The company told investors that these activities will provide further insight into the style and controls of mineralisation. It added that more drilling results are expected into late 2025.

The Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project remains a key focus for Yandal Resources as it advances exploration across the Yandal Greenstone Belt.
