Metallium nears first US plant launch to tackle critical metals supply - ASX SMIDcaps

Metallium Managing Director & CEO Michael Walshe talked with Proactive's Fouad Haidar about the company’s rapid growth and upcoming milestones in the United States.

Walshe explained that Metallium is an industrial technology company commercializing processes to recover metals from electronic waste and industrial waste streams. He noted the company has expanded significantly, growing from a nano-cap only 12 months ago to a market capitalization of over $700 million today. “The market really likes what we’re doing,” he said.

The company is currently focused on building its first commercial plant in Houston, Texas. According to Walshe, construction of the major equipment is expected to begin soon, with commissioning scheduled for December. Metallium aims to have the facility producing revenue in the first half of next year.

Beyond Texas, Metallium plans to replicate its model of processing printed circuit board waste rich in gold and copper across several U.S. states. Walshe highlighted that this work also supports efforts to reduce China’s leverage over supply chains for critical metals such as gallium, rare earths and antimony.
