GENinCode jumps 6% as leading NHS trust rolls out ovarian cancer test

GENinCode PLC (AIM:GENI) shares rose 6% on Thursday after the company announced its Risk of Ovarian Cancer Algorithm (ROCA) test has been adopted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).

The trust is the first in the UK to roll out the test as part of its Familial Cancer Clinic, working with the North Central London Cancer Alliance.

The surveillance service targets women carrying BRCA1 or BRCA2 genetic alterations, who face a 44% and 17% lifetime risk respectively of developing ovarian cancer by age 80.

Preventive surgery to remove fallopian tubes and ovaries remains the safest option, but under new guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), women who defer surgery to preserve fertility or avoid early menopause should be offered monitoring.

ROCA combines regular blood tests with clinical data to calculate individual risk and improve chances of detecting cancer at an earlier stage, when treatment outcomes are significantly better.

Trials suggest the test reduces late-stage diagnoses by 44% and can deliver savings to the NHS.

GENinCode CEO Matthew Walls said the launch marked a “significant milestone” and that the company looks forward to extending ROCA across other NHS trusts.

The shares rose 0.25p to 4.55p. Broker Cavendish thinks they are worth 20p.
