Recce Pharmaceuticals CEO James Graham talked with Proactive about the company’s progress in Indonesia as it begins patient dosing in its clinical trial using R327G to treat diabetic foot infections.
Graham explained that diabetes affects around 11% of the Indonesian population, which equates to more than 21.00 million people. Among those with diabetes, up to 60% may develop a diabetic ulcer, and nearly all of those ulcers become infected. He said, “We’re positioned as the first, if successful, the only drug to be approved for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer infections.”
The trial is taking place across five hospital sites, with enrollment underway for up to 310 patients who will receive either R327G or a placebo. An interim analysis is expected at 155 patients in the first quarter of 2026, which could provide an approvable data point. Graham noted that he had met with Indonesia’s FDA (BPOM), which confirmed its support for expedited regulatory review should the results prove positive.
If approved, the data package could support further approvals across ASEAN countries, the Middle East, and beyond. Recce Pharmaceuticals is already in early commercial discussions with pharmaceutical partners in these regions.
