Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO) shares rose 2.5% in premarket trading on Tuesday as Washington and Beijing moved closer to sealing a long-awaited aircraft order that could feature prominently in a broader trade pact between the two nations.
Reports suggest the deal could cover as many as 500 aircraft, an agreement that has been years in the making.
The potential breakthrough comes as the US and China pursue wider trade negotiations, following a call between President Trump and Xi Jinping last week. The pair are due to meet at the APEC summit in South Korea at the end of October.
Against this backdrop, the Supreme Court is weighing the legality of Trump’s sweeping tariffs, which remain in place as the case proceeds.
