GoviEx Uranium files environmental and social report for Muntanga project

GoviEx Uranium Inc (TSX-V:GXU, OTCQB:GVXXF) told investors it has filed its Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the Muntanga uranium project in Zambia with the Zambia Environmental Management Agency.

The filing follows a draft submission earlier this year that received no objection from the agency.

The assessment, which includes a Resettlement and Compensation Action Plan, is a requirement for an environmental permit. Approval is expected to take up to six months.

"We are very pleased to have filed the ESIA for Muntanga, marking another important step in our commitment to advance the project as planned and promised," said chief executive Daniel Major.

The Muntanga project in Zambia’s Southern Province is designed as a shallow open-pit, heap leach operation with a projected 12-year mine life.

A feasibility study has previously confirmed an after-tax net present value of $243 million and an internal rate of return of 20.8% at a uranium price of $90 per pound.
