Austral Resources non-executive chairman David Newling talked with Proactive about the company’s ongoing developments and project pipeline in Queensland.
Newling explained that Austral Resources is an Australian copper producer with a strong focus in the northwest Queensland region. The company currently operates two key assets, Mt Kelly and the newly acquired Rocklands copper facility. He noted, “We’ve been able to procure two processing facilities which uniquely places us as the only people in Australia that has that ability to process both copper oxide and copper sulfides.”
The discussion also highlighted the company’s focus on completing its equity raising, which Newling said is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. This step is part of Austral’s wider strategy to strengthen its financial position and progress its projects.
Newling also pointed to the importance of diversification and scale in the business model, outlining that smaller resource companies face challenges when reliant on a single project. He emphasized Austral’s approach of operating multiple processing facilities and pursuing acquisitions such as the Loretta project.
Looking ahead, Austral expects to continue its acquisition-driven growth and position itself as a consolidation vehicle in the Mt Isa region.
