Oriole Resources reports "significant progress all fronts" for its first half

Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) chair Eileen Carr highlighted a period with "significant progress all fronts", as the explorer reported its interim results statement for the six months to the end of June.

In the statement, the exploration company highlighted the recent and successful campaigns in Cameroon and Senegal whilst its enjoyed the support of higher gold prices.

"At the time of writing, the price of gold has reached the heady height of over US$3,700 per ounce, which is positive for gold exploration companies such as Oriole," Carr said in the results statement.

"It is fair to say that many analysts and forecasters have predicted these prices, and higher, to become the new 'norm' based upon global uncertainty and renewed inflation."

In the half, Oriole's focus was on the Mbe and Bibemi projects in Cameroon, and Senala in Senegal.

At Mbe, the maiden drill programme was completed this month, and it is expected to support a maiden resource estimate.

Bibemi, which is more advanced, is meanwhile slated to receive a key approval (for an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study) before the end of the year.

In terms of financial results, the pre-revenue exploration company said it ended June with £0.53 million of cash, and reported a £0.57 million loss for the period.
