Sprintex Ltd (ASX:SIX) has secured a major upgrade to its maiden contract with Dutch partner Mest Water, with the order value rising to €9.3 million (A$16.6 million) after the company was appointed to supply integrated control systems for the ZLD-UP® ammonia-reduction units.
The development lifts Sprintex’s revenue per system to €33,000 (A$59,000) from an earlier estimate of €24,000 (A$43,000), with the first on-farm installation for Mest Water’s lead customer Van Drie Group set to begin this week.
Higher-value order
The enhanced scope covers 200 production units at €24,000 each, plus 200 integrated controllers and a further 300 controllers for a new smaller ZLD-UP® model with a capacity of 200–400 kilograms per hour (kg/hr).
For Sprintex, the contract equates to €6.6 million (A$11.8 million) in compressor and cabinet revenues over the first 200 systems, plus €2.7 million (A$4.8 million) from the 300 additional controllers, with deliveries to roll out over the next 12 to 18 months.
The upgraded design consolidates process control and compressor protection into a single cabinet, featuring a stainless-steel housing, IoT-enabled monitoring, and multi-level secure remote access. The system is designed to improve efficiency, reduce downtime and enable remote diagnostics.
Pathways into the Dutch market
Sprintex and Mest Water are pursuing three commercial channels in the Netherlands, where regulations mandate steep ammonia reductions in agriculture.
- Permanent on-farm units: Targeting intensive producers like Van Drie, where the economics of avoiding costly slurry disposal (€35–40 per tonne) support full-scale ZLD-UP® installations.
- Mobile service model: A beta mobile unit has been delivered to contractor Elweco-Medo, aimed at smaller farms through periodic treatment visits.
- New smaller system: The partners are designing a compact 250–400kg/hr unit, aligned with a Dutch subsidy scheme expected this autumn to support 10,000–12,000 family farms.
With scalable production already in place at Mest Water’s new 31,500-square-metre facility, the companies are positioning to manufacture up to 1,000 systems annually.
Regulatory tailwind
A significant boost came last week when the European Commission approved RENURE (Recovered Nitrogen from Manure) as a substitute for synthetic fertilisers.
The decision allows processed manure products like those from the ZLD-UP® system to count toward EU nitrogen quotas, opening new value streams for farmers at a time of volatile global fertiliser prices.
Sprintex managing director Jay Upton said the approval underscored the system’s relevance.
“By enabling farmers to recycle nutrients locally through Mest Water’s ZLD-UP® technology, RENURE supports the Netherlands’ drive for self-sufficiency while delivering both environmental and economic benefits,” Upton said. “For Sprintex, this regulatory tailwind strengthens the commercial case for both large-scale deployments and the new smaller leased systems, positioning us at the centre of a transformative shift in European agriculture.”

Next steps
Deliveries of the first 200 systems are expected to commence in November and continue over 12 months. Controller deliveries for the new smaller units are scheduled from April 2026, with further compressor orders to follow once specifications are finalised.
Sprintex’s work with Mest Water coincides with Dutch efforts to accelerate approvals for ammonia and nitrogen-reduction technologies — a shift that could pave the way for rollout across thousands of farms.
