Medicus Pharma closes Antev acquisition, expands skin cancer trial - ICYMI

Medicus Pharma (NASDAQ:MDCX) CEO Raza Bokhari talked with Proactive about the company’s recent progress across its drug development pipeline.

Bokhari shared that Medicus Pharma has closed its acquisition of Antev, a UK-based biotech focused on next-generation gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists.

“We are no longer a one trick pony,” he said, noting the company now controls three FDA-approved clinical studies.

He also provided an update on SKNJCT, Medicus Pharma’s lead asset. It’s a non-invasive treatment for basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer globally.

Bokhari said the condition accounts for approximately 5 million new cases annually in the US and up to 30 million globally.

“Our novel treatment, which is advancing very nicely in nine plus sites in the United States... we are really excited that Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in UAE has also started to commence patient recruitment,” he explained.

Additional hospitals in Dubai and the UAE are expected to join the study soon.

Bokhari said the company’s focus is to acquire novel therapeutics, take them through Phase 2 proof-of-concept trials, and position them for acquisition with a double-digit return on invested capital.

“We are very bullish that we have something of a unicorn in the making,” he added.
