Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) Managing Director Alex Biggs talked with Proactive about the start of a 1,300-metre drilling program at the Mt Turner Gold Project in Queensland.
The company recently completed the 100% acquisition of Lotus Minerals, and this marks the first phase of an expanded exploration strategy along the Drummer Fault. Geo Drill Australia has been appointed to undertake the program.
The initial drilling will target gold and silver zones beneath shallow oxide pits and assess extensions along the 14-kilometre Drummer Fault. Biggs said: “It’s great to get started with our drilling at Mt Turner. With the current gold and silver markets and multiple targets this is the start of what the company sees as a significant value add to the business.”
Historic results from Mt Turner show strong potential, including 16 metres at 3.6 g/t gold, 12 metres at 6.5 g/t gold, and one metre at 3.4 g/t gold with 100 g/t silver. The company believes northeast-trending structures intersecting the Drummer Fault may host higher-grade mineralisation and intends to test these targets during the campaign.
Alongside drilling, soil and rock chip sampling will begin soon to refine exploration plans and support an expanded program. Mt Turner adds a gold-focused project to Lightning Minerals’ diversified portfolio, which also includes lithium and critical minerals assets in Brazil, Canada, and Western Australia.
