Lexington Gold reports 'encouraging' drill results in South Carolina

Lexington Gold Ltd (AIM:LEX) shares moved on the front foot in Wednesday's early trade after it reported assay results from its Jennings-Pioneer project in South Carolina.

Six diamond drill holes confirmed extensions at Barite Hill and achieved the first gold intersections at the Jennings Trend, it said in a statement.

The company noted highlight results which included 31 metres at 1 gram per tonne gold at the Middle Zone of Barite Hill and two metres at 1.1 grams per tonne gold at Jennings. Additional assays also showed silver, copper, zinc and tellurium as potential by-products.

“These latest results are highly encouraging and further demonstrate the strong growth potential of the Jennings-Pioneer project," said chief executive Bernard Olivier.

"Equally exciting is the maiden gold discovery at the Jennings Trend, where our first drill holes have delivered tangible gold intersections consistent with historical mine workings”.

The shares were up 1.3% to 3.9p.
