The S&P/ASX 200 fell today, losing 61.10 points or 0.69% to close at 8,816.60. The weakest performers in the index were New Hope Corporation Limited and Deep Yellow Limited, which declined 8.19% and 8.05% respectively. Over the past five days, the benchmark has remained broadly flat but sits 2.63% below its 52-week peak.

S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries [XSO] finished at 3,648.20, down 29.60 points or 0.80% today, though it has gained 24.20 points or 0.67% over the past five days.
