MedPal AI plc (AIM:MPAL) has struck a deal with Independent Gyms to provide free access to its wellness app for members of more than 2,000 gyms across the UK and Ireland.
The London-listed company uses artificial intelligence to analyse data from wearable fitness devices and generate personalised workout, nutrition and recovery plans.
The tie-up is aimed at helping smaller gyms compete with larger chains by offering members added digital services.
Jason Drummond, chief executive of MedPal AI, said: “The partnership with Independent Gyms will bring our AI health app to thousands of users, supporting MedPal’s early-mover positioning in the fast-growing UK fitness and wearables market.”
Members will be able to use the app at no cost for 12 months. After that, subscriptions will start at £2.99 a month, with Independent Gyms receiving a 25% commission on revenues from its members.
The UK gym market generates nearly £6 billion a year, with about 15% of the population signed up. The fitness wearables market, meanwhile, is forecast to grow to £1.3 billion in 2025.
MedPal will showcase its technology at the Independent Gym Show in November.
