Renalytix shares surge 45% on Tempus collaboration

Renalytix PLC (AIM:RENX) saw its shares leap 45% in early London trading after the diagnostics group struck a deal with US health technology company Tempus AI to expand access to its flagship kidneyintelX.dkd test.

The agreement will make the blood test available across Tempus’s network of American healthcare providers, broadening its reach among the 15 million people in the US living with both type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

The test, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and reimbursed by Medicare, assesses the likelihood of disease progression and helps doctors tailor care accordingly.

KidneyintelX.dkd will be the first test in Tempus’s chronic kidney disease portfolio, with samples processed at a Renalytix lab and results delivered digitally to clinicians and patients.

James McCullough, chief executive of Renalytix, said the tie-up would “significantly expand patient and clinician access” and accelerate innovation in the broader cardiovascular and metabolic space.

Ryan Fukushima, Tempus’s chief operating officer, added that the partnership would extend Tempus’s reach into diabetes and kidney disease, using artificial intelligence to generate insights that support clinical decisions.

The companies said integration into existing health system workflows will help clinicians act earlier to slow disease progression.
