Askari Metals Ltd Executive Director Gino D’Anna talked with Proactive about the company’s decision to divest its Burracoppin Gold Project in Western Australia to Forrestania Resources Ltd for A$700,000.
The move supports Askari's strategic shift to focus exclusively on its African asset base, including the Nejo Gold and Copper Project in Ethiopia and the Uis Rare Metals Project in Namibia. D’Anna explained that the transaction enables the company to allocate both financial and human capital more efficiently. “It really does make it a clear focus now for the company to push forward with not just the OIS project in Namibia, but also Nejo in Ethiopia,” he said.
D’Anna emphasised that this step is part of a broader strategy to define Askari as a focused African explorer and developer. He said that groundwork planning is underway for a maiden drilling program at Nejo, expected to begin in November, targeting around 3,000 to 5,000 metres of principally diamond core drilling.
At the Uis Rare Metals Project, drilling and trenching has intersected rare-metal pegmatites and high-grade tin, tantalum, rubidium and lithium across a 400-square-kilometre landholding, located near Andrada Mining Ltd’s producing Uis mine. Askari is also in active discussions with potential partners to enable further development of the asset.
