Gemini Space Station boosts IPO price, set for Nasdaq trading

Gemini Space Station late Thursday announced that it has priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $28 per share, valuing the company at $3.3 billion.

The crypto company, founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, was anticipating going public at between $17 and $19 earlier this week.

Gemini is expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq today under the ticker symbol ‘GEMI’.

The company sold 15.2 million shares in its IPO and had previously capped the value of the offering at $425 million.

Founded in 2014, Gemini holds more than $21 billion of assets on its platform as of the end of July, CNBC reported.

Earlier this week, the Nasdaq announced it is making a $50 million strategic investment in Gemini.

The Nasdaq said it wants to offer its clients access to Gemini’s custodial services and gain a distribution partner for its trade management system known as Calypso.

Gemini, which operates primarily as a cryptocurrency exchange, also offers a crypto-backed credit card.
