Ventia secures $100 million City of Sydney extension, adds to contract momentum

Ventia Services Group (ASX: VNT) has locked in a fresh facilities management deal with the City of Sydney, adding to a string of recent wins that are reinforcing its government-contract strength and boosting investor confidence.

City of Sydney extension

The company will continue managing 251 city-owned assets under a two-year extension of its facility management agreement, starting January 22, 2026. The $100 million extension covers both “hard” and “soft” facilities services such as maintenance, cleaning and strategic asset management. Among the assets are heritage-listed properties, including Sydney Town Hall and Customs House.

Ventia has been operating under the original City of Sydney facilities management contract since April 2018.

Building a pattern of contract additions

The City of Sydney deal is the latest in a run of significant contract announcements. Ventia has secured an extension worth about $270 million with the Department of Defence to continue providing base services, while also winning major fibre network upgrade work with NBN Co. These agreements, alongside the Sydney Water extension through its Confluence Water joint venture, highlight the breadth of sectors where Ventia is locking in long-term visibility.

Governments and agencies are increasingly turning to Ventia for infrastructure and facilities services as asset ageing, sustainability targets and cost efficiency remain in focus. The contracts tend to offer recurring revenue and stabilise performance over time, which analysts see as key to Ventia’s steady earnings profile.

Market reaction and strategic implications

The City of Sydney extension was well received by the market: Ventia shares rose by around 5% following the announcement.

For Ventia, the contract strengthens its local government facilities arm, provides cash flow certainty over the next two years and reinforces its reputation in managing high-profile public assets.

With sustainability increasingly built into service expectations — from efficient asset maintenance to cleaner operations — Ventia’s ability to deliver on both service and environmental outcomes may help it win further opportunities across government and utility clients.
