Joby and Uber to bring Blade flights to Uber App, expand air mobility partnership

Joby Aviation Inc (NYSE:JOBY) and Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE:UBER, ETR:UT8) announced plans to integrate Blade’s air mobility services into the Uber app starting as soon as 2026, marking the next phase of their collaboration to expand access to urban air travel.

The move follows Joby’s August 2025 acquisition of Blade’s passenger business, which flew more than 50,000 passengers in 2024 across routes in the New York metropolitan area and Southern Europe.

Once integrated, Uber customers will be able to book Blade flights directly through the app, enabling rapid connections to destinations such as Newark Liberty International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Manhattan, and the Hamptons.

Blade’s network of landing points, which includes passenger lounges, will form the backbone of this offering.

“Integrating Blade into the Uber app is the natural next step in our global partnership with Uber and will lay the foundation for the introduction of our quiet, zero-emissions aircraft in the years ahead,” Joby CEO JoeBen Bevirt said in a statement.

“Together with Uber’s global platform and Blade’s proven network, we’re setting the stage for a new era of air travel worldwide.”

Andrew Macdonald, Uber’s chief operating officer, added: “By harnessing the scale of the Uber platform and partnering with Joby, the industry leader in advanced air mobility, we’re excited to bring our customers the next generation of travel."

The partnership also lays the groundwork for the introduction of Joby’s electric air taxis, which are designed to carry four passengers and a pilot at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.

The aircraft produce zero emissions and, according to the company, have an acoustic footprint 100 times lower than traditional helicopters.

Joby plans to roll out the service in key markets including New York, Los Angeles, Dubai, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Shares of Joby added 3.7% on the update, while Uber shares edged 0.6% lower.
