Surefire Resources Managing Director Paul Burton talked with Proactive about progress at the Yidby Gold Project following the completion of the company’s latest drilling campaign.
Burton said the results confirmed very significant widths of mineralisation, with intersections up to 100 metres, adding that the Yidby system now spans more than three kilometres. “It’s the right time for us to now progress this project and develop it into a mineral resource,” he said.
Surefire has over 150 drill holes at Yidby and has now appointed a resource consulting geologist to begin work on a maiden mineral resource estimate. The company is also analysing one-metre samples to improve confidence in the gold grades, noting the presence of coarse gold.
The project shares geological similarities with Capricorn Metals’ nearby Mt Gibson Mine, which hosts 4.50 million ounces of gold. However, Burton pointed out that Surefire’s drilling has only reached 100 metres in depth compared to 700 metres at Capricorn, indicating potential upside.
Burton also noted that a mining lease application has been submitted, alongside planned metallurgical work, including gravity and cyanide leach tests.
He also touched on progress at the Copper Hill Project, about 3km from Yidby, where an electromagnetic survey has identified a bedrock conductor near a historic copper intercept and surface anomalies.
