The S&P/ASX 200 Index closed 0.52% lower on Tuesday, shedding 46.10 points to finish at 8,803.50. Polynovo Limited and HMC Capital Limited were the session’s weakest performers, down 5.78% and 4.85% respectively. Over the past five trading days, the benchmark index has declined 1.09% and currently sits 2.77% below its 52-week high.
Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX: XSO), which tracks companies outside the top 100, fell 6.30 points or 0.17% to 3,633.00. Despite Tuesday’s dip, the index has gained 0.43% over the past five days.
