Shares in Reach PLC (LSE:RCH) rose 1% after the publisher of the Mirror, Express and Star confirmed plans to cut hundreds of jobs in its biggest restructure to date.
The group said 321 editorial roles were at risk, with the overall total rising to around 600 once commercial and production changes are included.
The move follows July’s creation of a central sports hub and comes amid sharp shifts in reader behaviour and the impact of artificial intelligence on online traffic.
David Higgerson, chief content officer, described the overhaul as “the biggest reorganisation we’ve ever undertaken”, adding that new roles would be created with priority given to staff under threat.
The stock rose 0.7p to 70.5p.
