Apple set to unveil slimmer iPhone at September event

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) will host its annual autumn showcase in Cupertino on September 9, with the iPhone 17 range and new Apple Watches expected to headline.

The spotlight is likely to fall on the iPhone 17 Air, a super-thin model measuring just 5.5 millimetres, compared with 7.8mm for the standard iPhone and 8.3mm for the Pro.

Its slim frame may come at a cost, with reports suggesting a single camera lens and a smaller battery, which could raise concerns over performance.

The Air will replace the underperforming Plus model and is tipped to start at $50 to $100 more than its predecessor.

Alongside the Air, the Silicon Valley giant is preparing the iPhone 17, 17 Pro and Pro Max, powered by new A19 chips. The Pro models are expected to feature upgraded telephoto lenses and redesigned cameras.

Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 11, Watch Ultra 3 with possible satellite messaging, and a refreshed entry-level Watch SE.
