Chill Brands strikes deal on ‘next-generation’ nicotine device

Chill Brands Group PLC (LSE:CHLL, OTCQB:CHBRF) has struck a partnership with a start-up developing what could be a cleaner alternative to conventional vaping.

The London-listed distributor of consumer goods said it would work with SYP Global, a private company building a new nicotine delivery system that avoids heating liquids or using the solvents typically found in e-cigarettes.

Supporters say this reduces the risk of harmful by-products such as carbonyl compounds and metallic particles, creating what they describe as a smoother and potentially less toxic experience.

Under the agreement, Chill will act as SYP’s brand expansion partner, using its Chill Connect distribution network to run trials and eventually sell the product at scale.

Chill’s chief executive, Callum Sommerton, will also join SYP’s board to help steer its commercial development.

The technology is still at the development stage and is not expected to be ready for sale for about a year.

Chill stressed that it was not investing in SYP or funding the project directly. Instead, both companies will work together on refining the product and preparing it for regulatory approvals and market entry.

Sommerton said: “It is rare to encounter a technology that has the potential to reshape an industry, and I believe that SYP has the chance to do just that – offering consumers a clean alternative that works without heating and supports both oral and inhaled intake of active ingredients.”
