The S&P/ASX 200 finished lower on Monday, slipping 21.60 points, or 0.24%, to close at 8,849.60. The weakest performers were Smartgroup Corporation Ltd, down 4.73%, and Super Retail Group Ltd, which fell 4.46%. Over the past five days, the benchmark index has declined 1.38% and now sits 2.26% below its 52-week high.

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (XSO) edged higher, gaining 4.20 points or 0.12% to 3,639.30. The index is up 2.40 points, or 0.07%, over the past week.
