Savannah Resources (LON:SAV) continues to see good gold grades at its Block 4 project area in Oman and has identified a new prospect - Salahi 1.
Recent trenching, rock chip and grab samples have produced results of up to 72.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, with finds including 12 metres at 11.87 g/t gold.
It was just one of a number of companies receiving good news this week.
KEFI Minerals (LON:KEFI) believes it can double the 1mln ounce (oz) gold reserve at its Tulu Kapi operation in Ethiopia based on early stage surface exploration of the surrounding area.
Kefi is looking for satellite feeds for Tulu Kapi under the planned open pit and in the adjacent exploration licences.
Meanwhile Ariana Resources' (LON:AAU) now to be constructed Kiziltepe mine at the Red Rabbit project has been boosted by latest exploration results, which showed new gold discoveries that could add to output.
It has the potential to enhance the life of mine and the economics of the group's flagship gold project, the company said.
In other gold news, Sula Iron & Gold (LON:SULA) said it has applied for the exploration licence next to its Ferensola property in Sierra Leone.
Known locally as Tanyareh, the area is prospective for gold and coltan, a coarse grained metal ore containing niobium and tantalum, which are prized by the electronics industry.
KEFI Minerals (LON:KEFI) this week confirmed it is on course to update the definitive feasibility study for the flagship Tulu Kapi project in Ethiopia this month and expects to have concluded the full financing for the planned gold mine next quarter.
Capital costs are put at a relatively modest US$120mln for a contract-based operation that will produce 960,000 ounces of the precious metal over 13 years and at an all-in cost of US$783 an ounce.
In other precious metal news, Sunrise Resources (LON:SRES) has found bonanza grades of silver in underground samples at its Bay State project in Nevada.
The 18 samples were taken from the Chihuahua vein in an area previously inaccessible due to a rock-fall.
Away from precious metals, assays from SolGold’s (LON:SOLG) eleventh hole at Cascabel in Ecuador showed vein intensity and copper mineralisation increased the further it went down.
At a depth between 320m to 1060m, the drill unearthed an intersection of 740m of 0.24% copper and 0.16 g/t gold, which included a high grade zone of 58m at a grade of 1.45% copper and 1.44 g/t gold either side of 1,000m down.
In other copper news, drilling in zone 1807 of the Ming mine by Rambler Metals and Mining (LON:RMM, TSE:RMM) has succeeded in extending the high grade copper zone.
The company said the copper zone has been extended both down plunge and along strike, in an update on drilling activities at the Ming copper/gold mine, which is located in Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada.
Meanwhile, Xtract Resources (LON:XTR) is excited about the year ahead and reckons it's around three months away from its Chepica mine in Chile generating a profit.
In its final results statement, it said "significant progress" has been made taking it from a start-up operation to a mine that will produce at a steady state and turn a profit after expenditure.
Elsewhere, In-fill drilling at Horizonte’s (LON:HZM) Araguaia project in Brazil has returned consistent grades of more than 2% nickel.
At the Pequizeiro deposit grades were up to almost 3% nickel at widths up to 19m, while at Jacutinga results were similar with the best more than 3% over a 4m stretch.
Finally, Premier African Minerals (LON:PREM) has produced the first concentrates from its RHA tungsten mine in Zimbabwe.
Production so far has been coarse grades, which represent about 75% of expected production from RHA. Fines production is expected to start next week.
